What is the difference between son sa and ses in french

Use "sa" with a feminine singular noun. It says in the dictionary that 'apparence' for appearance is feminine, but when I type it into my Word document it changes from sa to son.

I can understand that sa apparence is kind of difficult to say but why does it not become s'apparence or something? Maybe there's some easy answer that I'm missing but if anyone knows, it would be appreciated.
