When Santana is making fun of the way Rachel usually dresses, she is closing a tube of lip gloss, which she then hands to Brittany and she uses it. Schue agrees to do a Britney Spears number for the assembly, Brittany turns and gives Santana a high five. They are seen looking very excited and begin having a conversation.
During the assembly, they sing and dance together to Toxic along with the others. They are together in the choir room and are seen together talking to Finn at his locker during Rachel's performance of The Only Exception , at one point, they pause and look at each other lovingly. During a game of spin the bottle, Brittany kisses Sam , who was Santana's boyfriend at that time. She breaks up the kiss saying "You know what this is not? Hey, honeys. No me gusta I don't like this. She looks very jealous. The next day at school, they meet up in the hall with the others and drink Bloody Mary's before performing Blame It On the Alcohol in the auditorium. After singing, they were standing next to each other.
As Finn stated last night, Santana is a weepy-hysterical drunk, and Santana slowly becomes more and more upset until she bursts out in tears. When Santana get's up and says this glee club is not complete, Brittany turns to listen to her. Santana places her hand on Brittany's shoulder to help her step down, Brittany is smiling and is checking Santana out while she's walking to the front. They are with the others outside when Kurt returns. Brittany walks up to Santana at their lockers and says, "Hey. Do you like my shirt for glee club? Santana says, "That's perfect. Check out mine. This is perfect. Legend has it when I came out of my mother I told the nurse she was fat. When you told me all that stuff the other week it meant so much to me. To see you be so honest.

She seems to direct the line "but listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness" to Santana, who then looks over at Brittany during "like a heartbeat drives you mad, the stillness of remembering what you had and what you lost.
She hugs her, tells her something, touches her nose, and then puts her arm around her and they walk off. They are together in the choir room. Brittany says, "I'm so sad. I'm a sad little panda. Brittany walks in the choir room behind Santana who is talking to Lauren. Tina , Kurt , and Brittany are sitting waiting for Lauren and Santana to try on prom dresses. It was no longer a joke or a way to spice things up but something that we should take seriously.
As each new episode aired, I would get tweets from people thanking me and telling me how important the story line was to them. I think we did a pretty good job; Santana and Brittany were able to show that a gay relationship was just that—a relationship, with no less or more of the ups and downs that happen in any relationship.

Next time though Anyway, this cues up the first song of the episode, the Signature Song of the man who sorta gave Lea Michele her big break note To elaborate, Spring Awakening was written by Duncan Sheik. This is a rare as in, the second recorded but only one aired duet between Finn and Blaine, Finn vocally lamenting how he was once the man of Rachel's dreams, but now they couldn't be farther apart.
As the Finchel fans grit their teeth yes, there were some , and the Faberry fans squeal, we then cut to Bushwick where Kurt and Rachel are taking Finn to a karaoke bar frequented by NYADA students, Finn complaining that he has to sing, not having done so since Nationals.
Kurtchel assure him otherwise; at said bar, Brody arrives to rotate the blade ever so slightly. Obligatory awkwardness ensues, "new" Finn subtly asserting himself over "old" Finn. Rachel tells Brody she wants Finn to do a duet on a Demi song but Finn, clearly rattled by his more assertive adversary, allows him to join her instead. Clearly the boy's a glutton for punishment, either that or he worked himself up and as we all know, that never ends well.
And we're proven right, as with the last duet last episode, vocally, Geyer and Michele work well together. Finn is properly deflated, pretty much realizing the writing on the wall but stubborn enough not to accept it then and there. Later in Central Park, Finn reiterates what he's known since graduation, that Rachel was meant for this and he wasn't. He then questions Rachel about Brody and as it turns out, her need to hold onto Finn was, at least at this point, instinctive, as she admits to maybe kinda liking the guy.
Regardless, this reiterates that she has bad taste in men and probably needs to move onto girls, one in particular Rachel, you DO have that train pass, remember? And again, Finn, you let her go, so you do not have the right to question whom she kisses. Leave that job to us. This leads to these two, plus two below, venting via No Doubt, Finn sneaking away before Rachel wakes up, Kurt sadly embracing him before he leaves. Later, we find Finn in the auditorium as Rachel apparently took her own flight to Lima, because all the important moments in their relationship happened there.
And as you'd guess, pretty much every scene with these two is a Tear Jerker tinged with harsher hindsight due to Cory's death. Rachel runs through said important moments as Finn remembers them as well.
Seems that no matter what, all signs lead back to the stage. Rachel finally lets loose on her frustrations over Finn not contacting her at all while he was in basic training, or backpacking through Georgia.
To whit:. This is what the basic idea of the story was supposed to be. They split, take time to find themselves, then when the time was right, reunite. Sadly, fate had other plans. Nonetheless, Finchel officially breakup for good, Finn asking what he does now, Rachel saying he find something he loves. They then kiss for the final time note And it really was the final kissing scene the two had , the most bittersweet of kisses.
Couple number 2: Brittana Santana appears in Lima and in person for the first time this season , because she comes back to do laundry like every college kid because they're useless. They also sit together in glee rehearsal and at breadstix. At Sectionals, Santana performs Valerie and at the beginning of the song Brittany slaps Santana's butt twice. After the Glee club gangs up on Santana and tells her how they feel about her ending with Rachel telling her the only job she'll get is working on a pole and Santana leaves, Brittany comforts her in the hallway.
Also, during Rachel's performance of Firework, Brittany and Santana periodically look at each other. At the end of the number, Brittany takes Santana's hand and leads her down and dances with her with the rest of New Directions. Santana does body shots off of Brittany's abs. Also, after the group's performance of Blame it On the Alcohol Santana seems perfectly fine. Santana starts crying becasue she is a "weepy, emotional drunk" and has been drinking bloody mary's to alleviate her hangover. Brittany comforts her.
When Brittany kisses Sam during a game of spin the bottle, Santana's reaction can be seen as jealousy, though it could be for Sam, whom was her boyfriend at the time. Santana asks Brittany if she wants to watch some Sweet Valley High and "get their cuddle on," though Brittany declines because she mistakenly believes she is pregnant.
Later, Brittany and Santana talk in Santana's bedroom. Santana ties up Brittany's hair, applies lip gloss and fixes her bed covers, insinuating that they had previously just been intimate. Brittany is confused about their relationship and says they should talk to an adult. They seek help to Holly Holliday, who asks if either of them thinks they're a lesbian.
Brittany says she doesn't know, but Santana admits to being attracted to both girls and guys. Then Holly suggests they sing about it. They sing Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, with Holly on lead vocals and guitar. Through the entire song Brittany and Santana are looking at each other, and Santana looks like she's going to cry, which she does at the end. Brittany then asks Santana, "Is that really how you feel? Their moment is quickly interrupted by one Rachel Berry commending them on their performance's "Sapphic charm" causing Santana to snap back claiming no one can label her for singing a song with Brittany.
I just want you. Please say you love me back. She tells Santana that if she and Artie were to ever break up, and she's lucky enough that Santana is still single, she'd be all hers and proudly so.
Later on, when Brittany, Santana, and Artie are at a Celibacy Club meeting, Santana just watches sadly as Brittany and Artie share smiles at the mention of love.
Brittany confronts Santana at their lockers, asking if she did something wrong and saying that she misses Santana and how close they were.
Santana tells Brittany that since Brittany "blew her off", it is Brittany's loss and instead, she'll be writing a heterosexual song for Sam. After a pause, Brittany is still looking at Santana to which Santana says, "Can you stop staring at me?

She stares longingly at Brittany several times throughout the episode. When Karofsky and Santana announce their "love" for each other in front of the Glee Club, Brittany looks upset and dumbfounded.
Later on, Brittany prints out a "Lebanese" T-shirt, which was supposed to read "Lesbian" for Santana.
