In a way, soul-searching is what led Grace to exit That '70s Show too. As Screen Rant reported, the sitcom was Grace's first acting role.
Over the course of his seven years with the show, he had a few small roles in movies like Mona Lisa Smile. In , he was also the romantic lead in Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! The experience inspired Grace to pursue more film roles.
However, television filming schedules are pretty demanding, so he was limited with what he could do while starring on That '70s Show. The only way Grace could follow his own passion was to exit the show entirely. Grace built a sustainable movie career after his That '70s Exit. While that movie ultimately marked the end of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series, the casting was a big deal for Grace.
Venom was one of the movie's antagonists, which was quite different than his role as amiable good guy Eric Foreman. Topher Grace portrayed the character from until , but his career goals led the actor to exit the long-running series before its conclusion. As a result, Grace is absent for most of the show's final season, although he did return to bid viewers a proper farewell in the finale.
Even though That '70s Show featured an ensemble set of characters, Eric was the glue that kept the show together. He might not have been the most confident or the most popular of the group, but he was a loyal friend and happened to have a basement, which served as the group's primary hangout location.
Eric's hijinks with his friends and his sometimes tumultuous relationship with his next-door neighbor, Donna , were often the focus of the series. Some of the best moments, however, involved Eric's interactions with his parents, Red and Kitty. Red taught Eric many tough lessons over his teenage years, including the importance of maintaining a job and becoming self-sufficient.
Upon graduating from high school, Eric struggled with what he wanted to do with the next chapter in his life. After taking a year to explore his options, much to the annoyance of Red, Eric found an opportunity to receive a fully-funded college education if he taught for a year in Africa. He accepted the offer and bid farewell to his friends and family in the season 7 finale.
The writers for That '70s Show had the ability to write the character out of the show because Grace gave them fair warning about his intention to leave. She takes advantage of this on many ocasions, particularly when dealing with her brother, since she knows she has her father wrapped around her finger. However, this changes over the course of the series.
At one point, Laurie decides to move out to an apartment with a married man, telling her parents that she's moving with a friend.
When Red drops by unnanounced, he realises she lied to him and disowns her, deeply embarrased of her actions. Both Kitty and Eric reason with him, and he finally accepts that Laurie is no longer her baby daughter, but a young woman capable of making mistakes. From that point on, he becomes more strict with her, forbids her of dating Kelso and favours Eric over her on Thanksgiving for not calling them while she was away in Chicago and for not changing her promiscuous ways.
Red also has a heart attack when he finds out Laurie married Fez so he could stay in the country, and does everything in his power to end the marriage.
Red's mother Bernice appears early on in the series. She is a cantankerous old woman who constantly insults and criticizes Kitty. It turns out that when Red was younger, he was dating a very wealthy woman, but fell in love with Kitty and married her instead. Bernice never forgave Kitty for this. Bernice later dies while Eric is driving her home, telling her how nasty she is to his mother and how it would not kill her to be nice for one day. Jerry Forman and Marty Forman.
Red also has two brothers, Jerry and Marty Forman. Red does not like Marty that much because he constantly wants to talk about his and Red's feelings and because he cries.
Jerry is apparently wealthier than Red, having a nicer car and a nicer job. That '70s Wiki Explore.
